A Robertson Family Christmas by Kay Robertson

A Robertson Family ChristmasA Robertson Family Christmas by Kay Robertson

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This is a heartwarming tale told as only the sweetest and most patient woman of the Robertson Family that I’ve ever known could tell a story, even if I only “know” of her through what I read and what I see. My mother and my youngest son (9) are huge Duck Commander fans and follow every mention of this lovely family. The story is very well written and edited with a lovely message blended through the book. It’s easy to recommend this book to every reader. More people should take a lesson from them. I received and ARC through Tyndale House Publishers in exchange for an honest review. This in NO way influenced my opinion.

Absolutely amazingly fun to read with my son. I’d bet even the more reluctant of readers will find this book enjoyable. There are endless choices and so many laughs. My son (9) and I spent the better part of a day together curled up in the reading chair laughing and deciding which choice might lead where and wiping tears from our eyes from all the belly laughs. Just like those choose your own adventure books from when I was a child, this one is entertaining and well thought out. My son is a huge fan of Duck Commander so this was an easy sell. I highly recommend this for all readers regardless of age. I received an ARC from Tyndale House Publishers in exchange for my honest opinion. This in NO way influenced my opinion.

This one is a mixed bag. I really liked the story idea, the way the groups are handled and the writing was solid. The plot, while a really good idea, didn’t flow smoothly and at times felt like it completely stalled. I enjoyed the book but I did have a hard time connecting with the main character. It was an easy read and would be appealing to the younger generation or an easily distracted audience. Overall it was good, not great.

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

The layout is simple and effective with plenty of information in a clearly presented format. The book provides inspiration for a well planned garden without resorting to chemicals that would harm nature. Definitely a good book to have and to read over each year.
