Every Girl Gets Confused by Janice Thompson

Every Girl Gets Confused (Brides With Style, #2)Every Girl Gets Confused by Janice Thompson

This is a continuation of the story with Katie and Brady. The first book was refreshing and enjoyable so I expected the same with the second. I feel it is also refreshing in the way the female character stands strong and isn’t weepy or overly dependent on others. The story flows nicely with an upbeat tone and a well weaved plot. There were moments I laughed out loud; through most of it I smiled. If you love those perfectly happy endings you’ll love this book too. Overall this is an easy entertaining read with plenty of humor and romance to lift your spirits. I received an ARC through Revell Publishing in exchange for an honest review. I found this book to be a nice break from the usual ones I read. It has plenty of humor and what the author likely considered current types of posts. My son (22) and I disagree on the content as I’m a bit more old school and prefer my essay replies to be well thought out and articulated. He sees the modern parts as appealing to the younger generation. Overall though, this is an entertaining read and makes for a great coffee-table book. Wicked Charms by Janet Evanovich

Wicked Charms (Lizzy & Diesel, #3)Wicked Charms by Janet Evanovich

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This is my first venture into a Janet Evanovich book although I’ve heard about her enough through those who swear she’s the best author out there. I can’t say I feel any one author is “the best” although I do prefer some over others purely due to my personal taste. That said, I can honestly say that Evanovich has a very good handle on the English language. Her writing is intelligently comprised with appropriate humor keeping the overall read light and enjoyable. The characters feel like I’ve known them for ages, very well fleshed out and a joy to experience. I’m not so sure how fresh and unique the plot is but at least it is enjoyable to follow. Overall this is a well conceived book with a complete feel to it. I received an e-arc through Random House Publishing in exchange for my honest review. This in no way influenced my opinion.

Some lessons are more difficult than others. Sometimes we need just a little push in the right direction and sometimes those little pushes come in the form of animals. Who would have thought that a donkey would be the little push for this family, much less any family. The tale is adorable and filled with practical and valuable life lessons. I love how personal the book is and how easy it is to read. This is a great story and tool for all stages of life and all ages. I received and ARC in exchange for an honest review. Review by Josh: This book is full of attempts at humor. Some hit the spot and others fell flat. There does not appear to be any character development. I found the story difficult to get into but I did manage to finish the book. This might be a good read for someone just looking for a lighthearted way to pass some time but I would personally pass it by for another book. It is not clear who the target audience is since some material is unsuitable for younger readers yet the language usage is a bit low for an adult. This is a cute and funny book to read although I’d wager there are several (many?) parents out there who would take it seriously. I’ll admit I have been suckered into watching and re-watching several baby videos and even linking them to people I know will laugh (and cry) as much as I have. As far as usable content, there is some but I wouldn’t bank anything on this book. That said, this book is an enjoyable read and makes a great gift, especially for that couple you have no idea what to get them. I received an evaluation copy in exchange for an honest review. If you love a great mystery with humor stop now and just get this book. I love how easily the characters come to life and feel so real. They are well fleshed out and come with a dose of humor. The book is very well written and edited nicely. The flow of the plot is near perfect. At no point did I feel I had to read filler. I love how well done this book is and how intelligently it is written and how intricately the threads are wound.
