I was so excited to be able to be a part of the kickstarter behind this book but that excitement was minuscule compared to what I felt when I could finally read it. I fell in love with Hadrian and Royce ages ago when a friend suggested I read Theft of Swords. I couldn’t be more appreciative of that suggestion. Sullivan has become one of my few go-to authors because I know whatever he publishes will be top quality and true to the fantasy genre. This is the third Chronicles book but the way it’s written it can be read without first reading the first two Chronicles or any of the three Revelations books. Here you get additional insight into why Hadrian and Royce are the way they are. There are a few ah-ha moments as part of the story is shared. Several times I found myself smiling and of course I couldn’t help but feel a familiar fondness towards the characters. Oh, and of course the writing is very well done, the characters are very well fleshed out, and the story is excellent with perfect flow throughout the book.
