I am leaning towards three stars because it isn’t a terrible book, but a two star rating means “It’s ok” and three stars is “I liked it”. Really it should be 2.5 stars. It’s an ok book but I didn’t like it much at all. I don’t typically struggle with my star ratings. It’s written well enough from a grammatical standpoint. The form and structure are good and the plot line is held up well through the book. The characters however, feel like scripted cutouts. I lost count how many times I rolled by eyes at the dialogue. I noticed a few character discrepancies which sealed the unfavorable experience. If this is Harrison’s first work then there is potential for growth and eventually a stellar read. I received this through Dey Street Books in exchange for an honest review. This in no way influenced my opinion.
