First off, this would have been five stars if not for the cliffhanger ending. To me it read more like the book was just divided up into sections to make it into a series. The author has her own explanation included in the book. That said, the writing was very well done and nicely edited. The plot was well woven through the story with believable fleshed out characters. Helen comes across genuine and you can’t help but connect with her and feel her emotions as she experiences them. The rape and subsequent emotional reactions were handled with as much grace as can be given a situation and without the unrealistic dramatic recovery so often found in books touching that topic. Overall this was an entertaining read that drew me in with the first chapter. I received an evaluation copy from Story Cartel in exchange for an honest opinion and review. In no way has this influenced our opinion.
